About the event
With this year's SAPFA events culminating in the World Rally Flying Championships (WRFC 2020) to be held in Stellenbosch in Nov 2020, we would like to invite as many participants as possible to take part, and are looking for interested pilots and navigators to learn the art of rally flying, where there will be further practical flight training events taking place up until April 2020 which is when we hold Nationals, in Stellenbosch, for selecting our Protea Teams. We are hoping to have 5 x A Teams and 5 x B Team sufficiently qualified to take part in the World Champs in November. The Art of Navigation plays a crucial role in Rally Flying and it is critical that the Navigator is able to plot the full course within the 20 – 30 minute time allocation slot. In order to improve your proficiency skills Mary de Klerk will be running a Navigation Training School at Aerosud Campus on Saturday 18th January 2020. She will teach you the basics of Nav Plotting and work step by step through the 2019 Rand Airport Challenge Route in order to prepare you to fly the 2020 Rand Airport Challenge. If you are interested in improving your Nav skills, it is very important that you make the effort to attend this 1 day course.
