The East Rand Flying Club annual Fly-In Breakfast was hosted on the 5 August 2017 with perfect weather conditions.
Springs airfield (FASI) is a registered airfield which is leased from the local municipality and lies at 5340 feet MSL. It's has a runway 1100m long which is tarred. The orientation is 03/21. A grass cross runway exists on a 14/32 orientation.
The airfield is uncontrolled and traffic in the vicinity uses the radio frequency 122,4 MHz for TIBA and circuit calls.
As in the past Paul Sabatier managed to safely land and park more than 40 aircraft arrivals.
As always the breakfast served at the club house was amazing, tables had been set up on the veranda and outside on the grass and all tables were full of hungry pilots. I was told that the club had catered for 200 aviators and as I was at the flight line taking photographs were one of the last to eat breakfast and the food had mostly been eaten. So well done to the club members who did an amazing job to feed us all.
As you will see from the photographs all types of aircraft arrived, the Motor Gliders, Slings, RV’s, Trikes, Microlights, Gyro’s, the Dornier, Cessna’s, the Alouette, the Jodel, Cubs and so many others old and new.
The breakfast Fly-in was a great success with old friends meeting up again and new friendships made, all with a common interest, their love for aviation.
