Changes in the Shareholding of Lanseria International Airport

Lanseria International Airport is entering a new phase of expansion after major alterations in its ownership structure, paving the way for its ambition to become the "Gateway to Africa."

In recent months, two principal shareholders of the airport, the Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF) (represented by the Public

Investment Corporation SOC Limited) and the Pan African Infrastructure Development Fund (PAIDF) (an infrastructure fund managed by Harith General Partners), have announced changes to their shareholding in the company as part of their strategic realignment and restructuring of their investment in the airport.

This restructuring will lead to GEPF increasing its ownership in the airport, while PAIDF will shift its stake to a newly established investment entity named Harith Infraco Limited.

The realignment marks the first major shift since 2013, when the GEPF, along with PAIDF and an empowerment consortium headed by Nozala Investments (Pty) Ltd, took ownership of the airport. The GEPF facilitated the empowerment consortium's investment.

Rammopo states that these capital projects will boost the airport's efficiency and reliability, draw international trade and logistics partners, rejuvenate our general aviation services, increase our operational capacity, strengthen our reputation for excellence, and enhance Lanseria's global competitiveness.

Regarding the airport's vision for long-term growth and sustainability, Lanseria aims to expand regionally by acquiring and managing airports throughout Africa. “This speaks to our ambition for the growth of aviation infrastructure across the continent.”

As Lanseria International Airport enters its next phase of growth, its refreshed ownership structure will continue to emphasize innovation and expansion. "Lanseria is committed to enhancing our position as a gateway to Africa, promoting growth in the business and tourism sectors, and bolstering our domestic economy," Rammopo concludes.
