Eve Air Mobility and UI Helicopter Collaborate on South Korea's Advanced Air Mobility

Eve Air Mobility, a company committed to advancing global Advanced Air Mobility, and UI Helicopter, South Korea's premier helicopter operator and maintenance provider, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop the industry's ecosystem in South Korea.

Leveraging their combined expertise, Eve and UI Helicopter will work together to present the technical, operational, and ecosystem requirements for eVTOLs to the local government and industry in South Korea.

“Advanced air mobility has the potential to reinvent global mobility, particularly in the dense urban areas that need it most,” explained Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve. “We’re proud to share Eve’s resources in technical and ecosystem development with UI Helicopter to develop a technically rigorous AAM infrastructure.”

Eve Air Mobility is dedicated to the progression of the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) ecosystem. Leveraging a start-up mindset and backed by Embraer's 55 years of expertise in aerospace, Eve is implementing a holistic strategy to elevate the UAM ecosystem. This strategy encompasses a cutting-edge eVTOL project, a worldwide services and support network, and a unique air traffic management solution. As of May 10, 2022, Eve is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, with its common stock and public warrants available for trading.

“South Korea has been a pioneer in laying the groundwork for Urban Air Mobility – establishing a sustainable infrastructure for the industry to flourish is a vital next step,” said UI Helicopter CEO Sungwieh Albert Rim. “With the right technical partner and UI Helicopter’s longstanding relationship with South Korean policymakers, we look forward to unlocking the AAM use cases that most benefit us.”

UI Helicopter is dedicated to progressing the aviation industry by providing innovative rotorcraft solutions. Established in 1986, UI Helicopter specializes in comprehensive helicopter operations and maintenance services. With extensive experience in aviation operations and MRO (Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul), the company is pivotal in supporting both commercial and defense aviation sectors. As part of its strategic expansion, UI Helicopter is entering the Urban Air Mobility (UAM) sector, focusing on the development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and the integration of next-generation air mobility solutions to propel the future of sustainable aviation.

The collaboration will commence with the deployment of Eve's Urban Air Mobility (UAM) market survey to collect preliminary data supporting this initiative. The South Korean government has made substantial progress in promoting Urban Air Mobility through several initiatives, such as the K-UAM Grand Challenge. Beyond Seoul, there is significant potential for Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) in rural areas of South Korea, which can play a crucial role in improving connectivity and boosting local economies.

Utilizing Eve's expertise, UI will apply its local knowledge to facilitate collaboration and open dialogue with policy leaders. This partnership aims to develop an AAM ecosystem that thoroughly integrates technical best practices along with South Korea's unique regulatory standards.
