Lanseria International Airport Receives ACA Accreditation

The ACA Mapping Level gives a nod to Lanseria International Airport for its solid carbon management plans and active steps to keep an eye on and cut down on CO2 emissions. This achievement puts HLA on the map as a responsible leader in tackling climate change within the global aviation scene, aligning with top international standards and the growing demand for eco-friendly aviation infrastructure. This certification, good until December 30, 2025, is handled by WSP under the Airports Council International (ACI) Africa.

Getting this accreditation is a big milestone for Lanseria International Airport as it works towards becoming Africa’s smartest airport. The airport is all about innovation, taking care of the environment, and running things efficiently. They're dedicated to using smart tech and sustainable methods to go above and beyond what today’s aviation players expect.

The ACA program, known as the top carbon management certification in the aviation world, gives airports a solid plan to track, handle, and cut down their carbon emissions. By reaching the Mapping Level, HLA has set up a scientific baseline for its carbon emissions, which is a key first move in its long-term plan to reduce carbon.

Lanseria International Airport's success shows just how dedicated their team is, always pushing for sustainability to make a real difference for the environment. They've already kicked off a bunch of projects to cut down on their carbon footprint, like upgrading to energy-efficient systems and looking into renewable energy options.

HLA is upping its sustainability game by putting money into some interesting infrastructure upgrades. They're working on a cutting-edge Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility and a top-notch cargo area. These projects are all about boosting efficiency and helping the airport become a major player both regionally and globally in the aviation scene.

The airport is all about going green, and it's not just about what happens on-site. They're teaming up with everyone involved in aviation to work together on cutting down carbon emissions. This lines up with the ACA program's focus on partnering up and making sure sustainable practices are part of every step in the process.

Looking ahead, HLA is all about sticking to its goals of running things smoothly, growing wisely, and making aviation in South Africa and Africa more eco-friendly. By zeroing in on sustainability, the airport not only boosts its image as a green leader but also stays strong against changing rules and market trends.

Getting the ACA Mapping Level shows just how committed Lanseria International Airport is to being environmentally friendly and leading the way in African aviation. As HLA works towards even higher carbon accreditation levels, it's setting a standard for other airports in the area, proving that you can be sustainable and run a top-notch operation at the same time.
