Portugal Orders 12 Embraer A-29N Super Tucano Aircraft



The Portuguese Ministry of National Defense has entered into a contract with Embraer to purchase 12 A-29N Super Tucanos for the Portuguese Air Force, establishing Portugal as the first customer for this new version of the advanced trainer and light attack aircraft. This purchase demonstrates Portugal's dedication to upgrading its Air Force with a versatile and reliable aircraft, perfectly suited for Advanced Pilot Training, Light Attack, Close Air Support (CAS), and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions.

The A-29N Super Tucano variant features advanced avionics, NATO-specific communication systems, and other undisclosed new capabilities customized to fulfil Portugal's operational needs. By acquiring this aircraft, Portugal became the first country to utilize the A-29N, pioneering the adoption of a highly capable platform intended to support a diverse array of contemporary defence missions.
